7 to 13 years of experience with Hadoop in a Production Environment

Experience with HDFS and Map Reduce
Experience on Hortonworks Hadoop Distribution
Experience in configuring and development in messaging system, Kafka
Development experience in NOSQL databases such as HBASE or Accumulo
Application development on Java EE will be added advantage

The Boeing Company is seeking an advanced Data Engineer to join our AnalytX team in designing and developing our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). The EDP consists of two major data repositories. A Teradata Data warehouse (BEDW – Boeing Enterprise Data Warehouse) and our big data platform using Hortonworks Hadoop. You will be a team member within the Platform & Data team that has the responsibility to provide for platform and to ensure data is ingested, integrated and ready for consumption by a team of Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Developers and various project teams that will use this information to provide value across the Boeing Company.

Your duties as a data engineer will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide technical direction to the engineering and application team
- Collaborate with internal functions to utilize the new big data and Teradata tools
- Design and develop code, scripts and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data
- Participate in requirements and design technical workshops with platform users
- Estimate new projects and evaluate new big data and Teradata technologies
- Provide technology leadership across Batch and Streaming data processing platform in Big Data and Teradata technologies
- Development of code templates using Nifi, Kafka, Storm, Hive, HBase
- Responsible for development using Java, Scala, Python language and Big Data Frameworks - Kafka, Storm, Spark Streaming
- Integrate with external data sources and APIs
- Use Hadoop and related tools to manage the analysis of billions of transaction records
- Provide architectural support by building Proof of Concepts & Prototypes
- Work with the developers, business analysts and subject matter experts to understand the complex technological system in order to produce integrated end-to-end solution options
- Develop and recommending novel and innovative -- yet proven and demonstrated -- approaches to solving business and technical problems
- Provide information architecture, solution prototyping, and agile development processes in Data warehousing

Qualifications
Technical bachelor's degree and typically 7 to 13 years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 7 to 14 years' or a PhD degree with typically 7 to 14 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study
